Did you know that fish can be trained? It’s true! Aquarists are people who take care of animals and plants that live in water, and their job is full of surprises. Aquarists wear many hats! They’re part marine biologist, part animal caretaker, part habitat designer, and even a little bit of a chemist and plumber! They make sure the water is clean, the animals are healthy, and the tanks feel just like home. They can even train fish, sharks, and rays to swim to a certain spot when it’s time to eat or get a check-up, kind of like training a dog, but underwater! Just like with trainers, aquarists often share their fascination of the animals in their care with people, so they can appreciate them, as well!
